This valley is located 195 km south of Santiago. It is known as being one of the most traditional vine-growing areas of Chile, and is well-known for its gentle slopes, ideal for growing vines.
Climate
The climate is predominantly temperate Mediterranean. During the summer nights, the foothills of the mountain range lose the heat accumulated during the day, allowing cold, dense air to descend to the valleys, cooling the grapes that grow close to the mountains.
Soils
These are alluvial in origin, due to the passage of the River Lontué, which flows around the vineyard leaving different concentrations of stones, gravel, sand, silt and clay. They are terraced, with loamy sand both on the surface and at depth.
Area under vine: 233 hectares.
Average rainfall: 600 mm per year.
VARIETIES
Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Viognier.
